Yemen Cafe: One Year Anniversary

It's been one year since I started this food blog and it's been a great year tasting many different foods and learning about different cultures through their food.  As of today I have done 40 countries and I look forward to blogging about many more.

Yesterday, I completed the 40th country at Yemen Cafe.  Yemen Cafe is located in Cobble Hill, Brooklyn on a street that seems to have quite a few different Middle Eastern restaurants/food shops.  I ordered the Hanneez (per the waiter's recommendation) and soon a few dishes came out. First this huge flat bread, like pita only  much larger.  The next set of dishes were lamb soup, which was more of a broth than soup and a house salad with a special garlicky sauce on top.  The flat bread was very good with the soup and even dipping it into the spicy sauce.  The main course was slow roasted lamb with rice and vegetables.  The lamb was exquisitely tender and flavorful.  I wish I could eat all of it but it was a lot of food, so a doggy bag was in order.

This was a simple but flavorful food adventure.  I look forward to many more in the next year and beyond.  Until next time, Buen Provecho!
